What Is The Secret Life Of French Door Refrigerator With Ice Maker
French Door Refrigerator With Ice Maker Review
Combining form and function, French-door refrigerators offer stylish double doors that open up to an expansive fridge on the top and a freezer drawer beneath. These refrigerators stand out due to their special features, such as through-the-door dispensers as well as higher-end ice makers.
We asked experts like Ladina Schopf, interior designer and architect, as well as the founder of LS Projects, for tips on picking the right one. They considered storage capacity and layout and energy efficiency, among other aspects.
GE Profile Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator
As the name suggests, the GE Profile series is geared towards consumers who want to incorporate cutting-edge features in their kitchen. This refrigerator is packed with these, from an inside-the-door Keurig K-cup coffee maker to a sophisticated water dispenser. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. Since this refrigerator is more, I'd expect better.
This fridge is a good choice, despite the small blip. It has a huge freezer compartment, which is unusual for counter-depth French-door refrigerators. It also has a large capacity for frozen food, which is a big difference from other models.
The fridge comes with 17 shelves and compartments. The fridge compartment has 18.5 cubic feet, which is the standard for a French-door fridge at this price. It has a decent sized icemaker in the left door. But it's not the biggest one I've seen.
You can adjust the shelving in both compartments to create a custom storage setup for what you want to keep. The interior design of the GE PYE22PYNFS is attractive. The LED lighting is a nice addition and the inside storage bins feature an additional shelf that can fold down to allow you to store items that are tall. The drawers are equipped with temperature controls so that you can set them for Beverage, Meat, or Deli settings. They're easy to open and close, but I found their textured plastic coatings to be a little hard on the fingers.
The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator is equipped with a complete set of features you'd expect from a refrigerator in this price range, including Wi-Fi and app support through GE's SmartHQ software. The app, available for iOS and Android devices can let you control your fridge from anywhere in world, and has many options for customizing. It also alerts you when a door is left open, when your fridge or freezer needs to be defrosted and when it's time to change the filter.
It is nice if the GE PYE22PYNFS had Precise Fill, an option available in a few other GE fridges that allow you to choose how many cups of water you'd like to disperse at a time. The fridge displays a countdown timer to reveal how much water remains but it's not as useful as Precise fill.
Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator
The Bosch French-door Refrigerator is a striking piece. It's designed to appear like it's a seamless part in your kitchen. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also has a vegetable compartment that keeps vegetables and fruits fresher longer, and two compressors for the best preservation of food. The ice maker is one of the top we've tested and produces a pyramid-shaped ice with a low water usage. This fridge is ideal for a single family or a kitchenette with a built-in appearance and top-of-the line food preservation.
This refrigerator was the highest-rated refrigerator in our Refrigerators Test for a few reasons. The temperature of the freezer remained stable at just a few degrees Fahrenheit, and never fluctuating more than a fraction a degree--this is key to avoiding freezer burn. The refrigerator section of the refrigerator also performed well. It reached the temperature it was set within a matter of hours, and maintained the temperature throughout our testing.
Bosch has a reputation for high-end appliances which is why it's no surprise that this counter-depth refrigerator is also a smart appliance that has the option of connecting to your home Wi-Fi as well as Bosch's Home Connect platform. The app allows you to control and monitor your refrigerator remotely from your tablet or smartphone. The refrigerator is expensive, but it offers great features and capabilities for the cost.
While the fridge is an incredible appliance, it's important to know the limitations. It has a limited space for shelves, so you may have to think creatively when it comes to storing large items. Additionally the shelves aren't completely sprillproof, and can easily be damaged or stained by sharp objects. It's easy to remove the trays from the fridge, but be sure to keep them clean to avoid mold growth.

LG Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator
The LG LRFLC2706S counter-depth fridge is a great option for those who require lots of space within a small frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. The fridge has an ordinary French door layout, with two rows of shelving with spill-capture and a set crisper drawers. The upper right shelf can be folded down to give tall items more space. There's also a full-width drawer for deli items and an internal water dispenser.
One of the great aspects of this refrigerator is that its ice maker is inside the freezer, which makes it easy to transfer the ice to the refrigerator to be used when it is required. The freezer is designed with thoughtful elements, for instance, sliding drawers to help you better organize the position of items. It also has a large bin that can accommodate plenty of frozen food and an additional container for storing ice.

Smart InstaView panel is another cool feature of the refrigerator. You can control the temperature, lighting and other aspects of your fridge using your smartphone. It's a nice way to monitor and manage your refrigerator, particularly if you're away from home.
The Smart InstaView feature is neat however it doesn't improve the efficiency of the fridge. The fridge took a bit longer to chill food and defrost it than some others we tested. This is likely due to its bigger capacity.
The other issue we have with this refrigerator is its doors. They have handles that are sunken at the front, which allows smaller people to open them from the bottom, but they're still difficult for taller people to pull closed without slamming the doors. It would have been more effective to have front-mounted handles.
The LG Counter-Depth MAX fridge is an excellent choice for those looking to combine the look and feel of a French-door refrigerator with an efficient design. Its capacity is above average for a counter-depth model and it cools well and has a nice layout. It's also a little cheaper than the best counter-depth refrigerator with an ice maker, which helps make it an attractive option.
french door fridge on sale
If you're looking for an French door refrigerator that won't cost a fortune this Frigidaire is a great choice. It's a basic fridge that may not be as eye-catching as some of its competitors however, it does have enough features to make a good choice. Its most important feature, the adjustable temperature drawer, helps to keep food like vegetables and meat fresher longer. It also has a large water dispenser and a decent ice maker that operates quickly.
The "Chill Drawer", which is situated over the two crisper bins, is a great feature. The drawer allows you to divert part of the fridge's cooling power directly to this area, which means you can put away food items that require special attention. This feature can be adjusted using an outside slider that is located inside the drawer. You can also set the general cooling settings for the entire fridge. I've noticed that the general settings are more effective than the specific ones.
In my tests, I discovered that the temperatures in the refrigerator were fairly consistent in different areas of the fridge. The temperatures in the top, bottom and middle of the fridge didn't differ significantly from 38 degrees. This is a great performance, but it doesn't quite make it into the top ten in our ratings.
This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. The fridge can be linked with a smart thermostat in order to gain more precise information on the internal temperature of your fridge.
The exterior of the Frigidaire is made of grey-bodied stainless that has a "smudge proof" finish. It does an excellent job of preventing streaks and fingerprints from appearing even when compared to the shiny stainless steel finishes on other appliances I've tried.
